Aqualipo® water-jet assisted liposculpture is a liposuction technique. The Body-Jet device, is an alternative tool used for performing liposuction. Using the flow of water to dislodge fat, this technique may provide advantages.

 

Using a pulsating spray of fluid, water-jet assisted liposuction dislodges fat.  Fat is can be loosened from connective tissues by the fluid spray and then simultaneously removed.   This method may result in minimal bruising and tissue trauma, while still helping to achieve body contouring results.   Some patients find this minimally invasive approach an option for fat reduction.

HOW DOES BODY-JET/AQUALIPO® WORK?


With Body-Jet/Aqualipo® Liposuction, the doctor introduces pulses of fluid into the body while working to dislodge and remove fat using a small tube (cannula) inserted through the skin.  Body-Jet/Aqualipo® also removes fluids from the patient as while the fluids are introduced.  Because less fluid is in the patient at any given time, minimal discomfort and a faster and potentially more accurate procedure may be possible.

Body-Jet/Aqualipo® includes three phases:

  1. 1.Infiltration --- fluid to numb treatment areas

  2. 2.Infiltration/Aspiration-- fluid spray dislodges fat while simultaneously suctioning it out

  3. 3.Drying—final aspiration to remove fluid for lipo result


PROCEDURE DETAILS


WHERE IS BODY-JET/AQUALIPO® PERFORMED?
A trained Body-Jet/Aqualipo® Liposuction physician will perform the procedure in a clean and sterile environment.  Dr. Carreon performs the procedure in the facility of Laser Cosmetic Solutions, located outside of the San Antonio and Austin area, in Seguin, Texas. Depending on your individual case and your doctor’s standards, the procedure could be performed under local anesthesia.   Dr. Melanie Carreon performs Body Jet, water-assisted liposuction, using only local anesthesia. Your physician will consult and review your case to decide.

A Body-Jet/Aqualipo® procedure may take a shorter amount of time.   Depending on your case and how many body areas you are having done.  Please discuss with your physician for more specific details based on your individual situation. Results may vary.


WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH BODY-JET?
Most areas of the body with excessive fat deposits may be treated.  The most frequently treated areas are the abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, arms and beneath the chin.  Because Body-Jet Lipo can be a procedure with minimal downtime, patients often choose to treat multiple problem areas at one time. Patients can also space out treatments if desired. Results may vary.


WHEN CAN I RETURN TO NORMAL ACTIVITY?
Some report being able to return to normal activity, including exercise, within a few days.  Results may vary.

IS THE PROCEDURE PERMANENT?
Fat cells that are removed by Body-Jet/Aqualipo® do not grow back. Typically, any post procedure weight gain is distributed elsewhere on the body. 

IS BODY-JET RIGHT FOR ME?
In general, a candidate for Body-Jet/Aqualipo® Liposuction is in good health and not more than 25 pounds overweight.   Those with localized, exercise-resistant fat deposits will obtain better results.   If you are looking for a way to shed fat with possible minimal downtime, discuss with your doctor to determine if Body-Jet/Aqualipo® might be right for you.
